విరూపాక్షమ్మ గుడి చరిత్ర
ఆంద్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రం లోని చిత్తూరు జిల్లా, పీలేరు మండలం లోని కావలి పల్లి లో వున్న విరుపాక్షమ్మ గుడిని సుమారు 1900-1910 సంవత్సర కాలం లో పుర్రా వంశస్తులైన పుర్రా వెంకటప్ప (పుర్రా నాగయ్య గారి తండ్రి) మరియు పుర్రా లక్ష్మయ్య గారి హయాంలో నిర్మించారు. ఈ గుడి సుమారు 100 సంవత్సరముల పై చరిత్ర కలదు.
కావలిపల్లి గ్రామం 4-5 కుటుంబాలతో మొదలయ్యింది. సుమారు 100 సంవత్సరముల క్రితం అతి భయంకరమైన జబ్బులైన అతిసారం, ప్లేగు వ్యాదులతో ప్రజలు చనిపోతుండగా అప్పటి గ్రామ పెద్దలు గ్రామంలో ప్రజలను కాపాడుకోవడానికి గంగమ్మను ప్రతిష్టించారు. అప్పట్లో గుడిని కేవలం 3 అడుగుల ఎత్తు మాత్రమే నిర్మించారు. గుడిలో పూజలు చెయ్యాలంటే మోకాళ్ళపై కూర్చొని లోపలికి దూరి పూజలు చేసేవారు.
కాలక్రమేనా గ్రామ జనాభా పెరుగుతూ వచ్చింది. 1950 - 60 ల కాలం లో కొందరు భూబకాశురులు గుడిని కూల్చివేసి భూమిను ఆక్రమించుకోవడానికి ప్రయత్నించగా అప్పటి గ్రామ పెద్దలైన పుర్రా వెంకటప్ప గారు, బుచ్చెట్టి వెంకటప్ప గారు, బుచ్చెట్టి గుర్రప్ప గారు, భుమా దామోదరం గారు, పుట్టా కృష్ణప్ప గారు, పుట్టా గంగోజి గారు, మరికొంత మంది గ్రామ ప్రజలు కలసి ఆక్రమణను అడ్డుకున్నారు. అటుపిమ్మట గుడిని అభివృద్ధి పరచి గుడి ఎత్తును 6 అడుగులకు పెంచారు.
విరూపాక్షమ్మ చాలా సత్యం గల దేవత. విరూపాక్షమ్మ సాక్షాత్తు ఆదిపరాశక్తి ప్రతిరూపం. అమ్మవారికి ప్రతిరోజూ దీప నైవేద్యం పెడుతారు గ్రామ ప్రజలు. ప్రతి శుక్రవారం కేవలం గ్రామ ప్రజలే కాకుండా చుట్టుప్రక్కల ప్రజలు కూడా వచ్చి అమ్మవారిని ఆరాదిస్తుంటారు. ప్రతి ఏటా వినాయక చవితి తరువాత విరూపాక్షమ్మ జాతరను గ్రామ ప్రజలు పెద్ద ఎత్తున జరుపుకుంటారు.
విరూపాక్షమ్మ తల్లిని వేడుకొని ఎటువంటి కార్యం మొదలుపెట్టినా అది ఖచ్చితం గా జరుగుతుందని కావలిపల్లి గ్రామ ప్రజల ప్రగాఢ విశ్వాసం. ఏదైనా కార్యం మొదలు పెట్టేటప్పుడు విరూపాక్షమ్మ తల్లికి మొదటి పూజ చేసి అమ్మవారికి కొబ్బరి కాయ కొడితే అది పగిలే పద్దతిని బట్టి మనం తలపెట్టిన కార్యం ఎలా జరుగుతుందో అర్థం చేసుకోవచ్చు.
కావలిపల్లి గ్రామ ప్రజలు తమ కుటుంబాలలో జరిగే ఎలాంటి కార్యమైనా మొదట విరూపాక్షమ్మ తల్లి ఆశీస్సులు పొందిన తరువాతే మొదలుపెట్టడం ఆనవాయితీగా వస్తోంది. అది శుభకార్యమైనా, వ్యాపారమైనా, ప్రయాణమైనా, పెళ్లి అయినా, అది ఏదైనా అమ్మవారి ఆశీస్సులు పొందాకే మొదలుపెట్టడం ఆనవాయితీగా వస్తోంది. చివరికి, గ్రామంలో జరిపే వినాయక చవితి ఉత్సవాలైనా కూడా విరూపాక్షమ్మ తల్లి ఆశీర్వాదం లేనిదే మొదలు కాదు.

History of Virupakshamma Temple
Virupakshamma Temple, located in Kavali Palli, Peeleru Mandal, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh State, was built around 1900-1910 during the reign of Purra Venkatappa (father of Purra Nagayya) and Purra Lakshmaiya. This temple has a history of more than 100 years.
Kavalipalli village started with 4-5 families. About 100 years ago, when people were dying of the most terrible diseases, diarrhea and plague, the then village elders installed Gangamma to protect the people in the village. At that time the temple was built only 3 feet high. If they wanted to worship in the temple, they used to sit on their knees and push inside.
The population of the village has been increasing over time. During the 1950s and 60s, some land grabbers tried to demolish the temple and occupy the land, but the then village chiefs Purra Venkatappa, Buchchetti Venkatappa, Buchchetti Gurrappa, Bhuma Damodaram, Putta Krishnappa, Putta Gangoji and some other villagers stopped the encroachment. Atupimmata temple was developed and the height of the temple was increased to 6 feet.
Virupakshamma is a very truthful deity. Virupakshamma is the embodiment of Adiparashakti. Every day the people of the village offer lamp to Amma. Every Friday not only the people of the village but also the surrounding people come and worship the goddess. Every year after Vinayaka Chavithi, Virupakshamma Jatara is celebrated on a grand scale by the people of the village.
It is a deep belief of the people of Kavalipalli village that whatever work is started after praying to Virupakshamma's mother, it will be done. When starting any work, if we do the first puja to Virupakshamma's mother and strike a coconut to her mother, we can understand how the work we intend to do will be done by the method of breaking it.
It is customary for the people of Kavalipalli village to start any work in their families only after receiving the blessings of Mother Virupakshamma. Whether it is auspicious work, business, travel or marriage, it is customary to start it with the blessings of Amma. In the end, even the Vinayaka Chavithi festival in the village does not begin without the blessings of Virupakshamma's mother.
